05/11/2010 New League Season Starts June 1, 2010 - ENTER NOW  The new Austin Squash League Spring 2010 season will commence play on Tuesday June 1, 2010.  Entries close May 24 and can be made at either of the Austin Life Time Fitness clubs, or by completing the entry forms found on this site and emailing them to league@AustinSquash.com
04/11/2010  2010 Texas Open Results

  The Final of the Women's Pro Division of the Texas Open today saw a major upset when unseeded New Zealander Joelle King defeated #1 seeded Australian Rachel Grinham 3-1. 

In the amateur divisions, South Austin Life Time Fitness player Imran Baqai was a semi finalist in the Men's 3.5 event as also was Rob Corwin in the Men's 4.5 Consolation event.

Life Time Austin Squash Pro, Don Murphy, took second place in the Men's 50+ event. 

04/04/2010  Squash Exhibition - World #10 Kasey Brown

  Women's World #10 squash player, Kasey Brown, played three exhibition matches in Austin this weekend.  The first two were singles matches against local players Jesse Ormston and Eric Katerman, which Kasey won 3-0, 3-0.  The third match saw Kasey partnered with local Life Time Fitness Pro, Don Murphy, in a doubles match against Ormston and Katerman.  This match saw Brown and Murphy take a 3-1 victory over the less experienced team.

The exhibition matches were well received by those in the audience and should become the first of many such events in Austin.

 The November issue of Austin Fit magazine features an article on squash. It provides some general information on health benefits of the sport, some personal thoughts on participation and, most importantly, talks about the Austin Squash League and where it’s played.

 Women’s World Open Squash Championship

 In a world first, two sisters played off for the title. Rachel and Natalie Grinham of Australia defeated the world’s best players to reach the final. Big sister Rachel, a former World #1, won her second major event of the year with an exciting 3-0 victory over little sister Natalie. This link will take you to a webcast of the match.

The webcast will be available until November 4.

BTW Both sisters have been strong supporters of Texas squash, appearing in the Texas Open on several occasions.
